EFCC Recruitment 2026: 7 Things You Must Know Before You Fill the Online Application Form

The EFCC recruitment 2026 application is free, and the deadline is November 1, 2026. But before you apply, there are seven important things you should know about the requirements, documents and mistakes that could disqualify you.

If you are planning to apply for a job with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), take a few minutes to check these details. They could save you from making a costly mistake.

Important: Apply only through the official EFCC recruitment portal. Do not pay anyone who promises to help you secure a job, and be careful with recruitment links shared through WhatsApp and Facebook.

1. The EFCC Recruitment Form Is Completely Free

You do not need to pay to apply for EFCC recruitment.

The commission has made it clear that the application process is free. It also warns applicants against paying individuals or organisations that claim they can help them secure employment.

If somebody asks you to pay for the application form, processing fees or assistance with shortlisting, be careful. A promise to secure a job in exchange for money is a serious warning sign.

Complete your application directly through the official recruitment portal:

https://recruitment.efcc.gov.ng

Do not submit your personal information or certificates through an unofficial website.

2. Check the Qualifications for Your Preferred Position

One mistake applicants make is assuming that every EFCC position requires the same qualifications. That is not the case.

The 2026 recruitment exercise covers four categories, each with its own educational and age requirements.

PositionMinimum educational qualificationAge limit
Assistant Superintendent of EFCC II – GL 08Bachelor’s degree or HND, plus NYSC discharge or exemption certificate18–30 years
Inspector of EFCC II – GL 06National Diploma (ND) or National Certificate in Education (NCE)18–27 years
Detective Assistant II – GL 04Five credit passes in WAEC, NECO, GCE or NABTEB, including English Language and Mathematics, in not more than two sittings18–25 years
Professionals and skilled workersRelevant qualifications or experience in a listed field; NYSC discharge or exemption certificate required18–40 years

The professional category includes fields such as law, medicine, nursing, engineering, information technology, financial analysis and other listed areas.

Before you apply, confirm that your qualification matches the position you want. Having a university degree does not automatically make you eligible for every category.

3. You Must Meet the Medical and Physical Requirements

Your academic qualifications are important, but they are not the only conditions you must meet.

According to the recruitment portal, applicants must be Nigerian citizens, have basic computer skills, be medically fit and provide evidence of their medical fitness from a government-approved hospital.

The portal also states that applicants must have no criminal record and no tattoos on any part of the body.

There are additional requirements for cadets:

  • Male cadets must be at least 1.67 metres tall.
  • Female cadets must be at least 1.64 metres tall.
  • Cadet applicants must be single.

These height and marital-status requirements are specifically listed under the cadet requirements. Do not automatically apply them to the professionals and skilled workers category.

Check the conditions for your preferred position before submitting your application. If you need medical documentation, make arrangements to obtain the required evidence from a government-approved hospital.

4. Fake Certificates and Multiple Applications Can Disqualify You

Be careful with the information you provide during registration.

The EFCC recruitment portal warns that applicants who submit false information or make multiple applications will be automatically disqualified.

This means you should use your correct personal details and upload genuine certificates.

If your name, date of birth or other details differ across your documents, check the information carefully before submitting the form.

Do not submit more than one application because you think it will improve your chances. The portal specifically warns against this.

Also, review your application before clicking the submit button. The portal states that you cannot edit an application after submission.

5. Prepare and Compress Your Documents Before Uploading

Do not wait until you are filling out the EFCC recruitment form before searching for your certificates.

Prepare the documents required for your chosen category. Depending on your qualifications, these may include:

  • Passport photograph
  • Birth certificate or declaration of age
  • Indigene or local government certificate
  • Primary school certificate
  • WAEC, NECO, NABTEB or other relevant examination certificate
  • National Diploma certificate, where applicable
  • HND or university degree certificate, where applicable
  • NYSC discharge or exemption certificate, where applicable
  • Professional membership certificate, where applicable

Scan or photograph your documents clearly. Make sure the text is readable and that important details are not cut off.

The official portal provides the following file-size limits:

Document typeMaximum file sizeAccepted format
Most documents250 KB per filePDF, JPG or PNG
Professional certificates500 KB per fileFollow the portal’s accepted-format instructions
Passport photographSubject to the applicable upload limitJPG or PNG

If your image files are too large, you can use an image compressor such as TinyPNG. For PDF documents, use a suitable PDF compressor instead.

After compression, open each file to confirm that it is clear and readable. A tiny file is not useful if the recruitment officer cannot read your certificate.

6. November 1, 2026, Is the Application Deadline

The official recruitment portal lists November 1, 2026, as the closing date.

Do not wait until the final day to submit your application. Network problems, missing documents or difficulties uploading your certificates could delay you.

Complete your registration early, check your details and make sure you successfully submit the application before the deadline.

Remember that saving a draft is not the same as submitting your application.

If you have not applied yet, check the official portal for the latest instructions and complete the process as soon as possible.

7. An EFCC Job May Open Up Federal Worker Loan Options, but There Is a Catch

The EFCC is a federal government agency, so an appointment may put you in a position to explore financial products available to eligible federal employees.

For example, some lenders offer salary-backed loans to qualifying public servants and use employment or payroll information when assessing applications.

However, getting an EFCC job does not automatically qualify you for an IPPIS loan. Eligibility depends on the applicable payroll arrangements, the lender’s conditions and your individual circumstances.

If you want to understand how these loans work, see our guide to IPPIS loans for federal government workers in Nigeria.

Focus first on meeting the recruitment requirements. You can explore suitable loan options if you eventually secure the job.
